Nine candidates have been shortlisted for the post of Chairman of Nepal Telecommunication Authority (NTA) 2083. The new chairman will guide the authority that looks over all the telecom affairs in the country.
After the special ordinance removed the former chair Bhupendra Bhandari and the board members, a new vacancy was issued for the same post.
According to the Ministry of Information and Communications (MoCIT), the nine shortlisted candidates are:
Arjun Ghimire
Anant Man Singh
Anil Kumar Jha
Amlendu Narayan Singh
Janardan Bhatta
Madhu Sudan Dahal
Rajib Subba
Salaullah Khan
Sushil Prasad Sah
Among them, most of the candidates are Nepal Telecom former senior officials, who have extensive professional experience in telecom sector.

NTA Chairman post interview
The candidates will now have to present their business plan to the authority. The presentation and interview have been scheduled for Wednesday (Ashar 24).
NTA says that the candidates must arrive 30 minutes before their allotted time with a soft copy of the business plan presentation and original copies of all documents submitted with the application.
The new chairman will oversee the upcoming 5G spectrum auction and the launch of 5G in Nepal. The telecom industry is also facing an uphill challenge of financial burden. The new incumbent will be in a position to coordinate the talks with all the stakeholders and find a common resolution. Likewise, the use of NTA RTDF fund for the mobile network expansion in remote areas is also pending from long time.

Similarly, the interview for NTA board members for different disciplines (Technical, Marketing, Accounting and Law) have been scheduled on Asar 25 and 26.
