
MANILA, Philippines — The Senate, sitting as an impeachment court, formally begins the trial of Vice President Sara Duterte on Monday, July 6, 2026, marking the start of a historic constitutional process that will determine whether she should be removed from office.
In today’s opening session, the court is expected to focus on procedural matters, including appearance of counsels for both parties, preliminary motions and other legal issues before the proper presentation of evidence and witnesses.
