Yogyakarta (ANTARA) - The Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education affirmed readiness to launch the National Integrated Schools program this year, aiming to enhance education quality and align with global standards.
Visiting Yogyakarta on Sunday (July 5), Minister Abdul Mu’ti cited the program as a key initiative introduced by President Prabowo, alongside the development of Garuda Top Schools.
“We have been entrusted with National Integrated Schools, which will begin this year, God willing,” he remarked.
Mu’ti explained the program seeks to establish higher-quality schools in every district nationwide, starting from the junior high level.
“Mr. President’s initial suggestion was to build such schools in every sub-district, but he then decided to erect them in every district starting from the junior high level,” the minister noted.
He added that the government intends to dedicate National Integrated Schools to high-achieving students.
“The schools are designed for those who have high or above-average academic abilities. None of them will adopt the boarding school concept,” Mu’ti said.
According to him, several regions have confirmed preparedness to commence school development, and the curriculum for the program has been drafted.
The Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education, he said, is currently working on a scheme for educator recruitment to advance the initiative.
“Our hope is to be able to begin several National Integrated Schools in the new academic year,” he added.
Without specifying the regions to be involved in the initial phase, Mu’ti noted that the plan is to use existing facilities of the ministry as temporary sites while awaiting school construction.
“We will begin by organizing the program at our centers because the school buildings are not yet available,” the minister remarked.
He further stressed that the various educational programs introduced by the government are directed to produce high-quality and competitive human resources for the nation.
“It is important that we pivot to education to enhance our quality and competitiveness amid the increasingly open and competitive world,” he concluded.
