MANILA, Philippines — Senator Rodante Marcoleta will be detained at the New Quezon City Jail in Barangay Payatas after the Sandiganbayan issued a warrant for his arrest over a non-bailable plunder case involving an alleged P75 million campaign donation, Associate Justice Karl Miranda said Monday.
Miranda announced the issuance of the arrest warrant against Marcoleta, former Anakalusugan Rep. Mike Defensor, and businessmen Aristotle Viray and Joseph Espiritu.
Marcoleta arrived at the Sandiganbayan early Monday for the hearing on his three motions, including a bid to suspend the proceedings and another seeking to stop the implementation of the warrant for his arrest.

Miranda said the court denied the two motions, allowing the warrant to proceed.
The senator no longer left the Sandiganbayan premises. Instead, he returned to the Third Division courtroom for the return of the warrant.
