Jakarta (ANTARA) - Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto received Singaporean Prime Minister Lawrence Wong at the Merdeka Palace in Jakarta on Monday for the annual Leaders’ Retreat to strengthen bilateral relations.
ANTARA observed that Wong’s motorcade arrived at the palace around 11 a.m. local time, escorted by 17 outriders from Indonesia’s Presidential Security Detail (Paspampres).
Prabowo, waiting on the palace’s west porch, welcomed Wong with a handshake before accompanying him to the veranda, where the national anthems of Indonesia and Singapore were played.
The president, sporting a black suit and light blue tie, then introduced his delegation to the Singaporean dignitary, who matched his outfit and donned a red tie.
Several senior officials made up the delegation, including Foreign Affairs Minister Sugiono, Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto, State Secretary Minister Prasetyo Hadi, Defense Minister Sjafrie Sjamsoeddin, and Energy and Mineral Resources Minister Bahlil Lahadalia.
Also present were Investment and Downstreaming Minister Rosan Roeslani and Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya.
Following the exchange of greetings, Prabowo invited Wong to the Credential Chamber for a photo session symbolizing the longstanding partnership between Indonesia and Singapore.
The two leaders then proceeded to a one-on-one meeting in the president’s office, followed by a bilateral meeting and a working lunch. The visit was scheduled to conclude with a joint press conference.
The Prime Minister’s Office of Singapore noted in a release on Sunday (July 5) that the high-level retreat would cover a range of issues, including progress in bilateral projects since the previous meeting in June 2025 in Singapore.
Additionally, the two sides were expected to explore viable ways to step up collaboration on strategic fields and exchange perspectives on regional and global dynamics.
A total of 26 agreements and memorandums of understanding are expected to be concluded during the Jakarta retreat, compared with 24 cooperation documents signed at last year's meeting in Singapore.
