
MANILA, Philippines – Lawyer Reginald “Regie” Tongol on Monday was designated a second time as the impeachment court’s spokesperson for the trial of Vice President Sara Duterte.
Tongol previously served as the impeachment court’s spokesperson when Duterte was supposed to face her first trial at the 19th Congress before it was archived in the Senate
“The Senate has officially designated Atty. Reginald “Regie” Tongol as the spokesperson of the Impeachment Court for the trial of Vice President Sara Z. Duterte,” a statement from the office of Senate President Sherwin Gatchalian read.

As the spokesperson, Tongol will be the primary point person for the media on trial-related matters, particularly for official actions of the impeachment court, press statements, and answering queries.
Gatchalian cited Tongol’s “familiarity with the Rules of Procedure on Impeachment Trials,” experience in legal and media practice, as reason to be appointed to the position. /mr
