
MANILA, Philippines — As the Senate convened as an impeachment court on Monday, July 6, for the trial of Vice President Sara Duterte, some residents and members of civil society groups gathered at a covered court for a community viewing of the proceedings.
Initiated by the group Bantay Senado, the “TamBayanan Watch Party” in Brgy. Krus na Ligas in Diliman, Quezon City seeks to provide the public with a space to collectively monitor the proceedings while discussing issues related to the trial.

The event, which is scheduled until 5 p.m., is still calling on more people to take part in the watch party, and to promote a transparent and fair impeachment process.
