Taylor Swift Gives Surprise Performance at Travis Kelce’s Tight End University
Nate Smith is on fire with his weight loss transformation.
The "Fix What You Didn't Break" country hitmaker broke a major personal weight loss record by dropping more than 70 pounds after originally weighing close to 280, thanks to a new health-focused lifestyle he took on in 2024.
“So I was like 275 lbs., somewhere in that world,” Smith told People. "But I want to get down to like 185 lbs. again.”
The "World on Fire" singer said the wellness milestone helped make sure that he is "keeping the energy on stage" while performing around Nashville and beyond, "because I think that takes care of the fans."
The 40-year-old, who has shared the stage with country favorites like Jelly Roll, added that another reason he wanted to "get under 200 lbs.” is because of the boosted confidence he feels when getting dressed.
"I just feel better. It’s nice to be able to wear clothes that I like. This is a large," Smith explained, pointing to his all-black get-up during the interview at the Tight Ends & Friends Concert June 23. “I’ve been double X for the last five or six years, so I’m feeling really good."
And that's not the only benefit that Smith—who has previously attributed his weight gain to overconsumption of food and alcohol—has discovered since pivoting to a lower-calorie, higher-protein diet.
"I don’t sweat anymore, which is amazing. I used to be totally out of breath tying my shoes,” the musician said. “I can jump around a lot more."

But even though Smith is working on his fitness, that doesn't mean he can't have fun with food. In a video shared to Instagram June 21, Smith showed himself stopping in a crowd of fans to indulge in an impromptu snack.
"Find me in a bar," Smith said, referencing his upcoming single, in the caption, "or literally eating second hand French fries off someone's plate."
