MANILA, Philippines — The Land Transportation Office (LTO) said it has implemented a region-wide reassignment of chief officers on Tuesday, July 7.
The move comes amid the intensified entrapment operations of the Anti-Red Tape Authority and the Philippine National Police Criminal Investigation and Detective Group, which led to the arrest of three alleged fixers last June 29.
The suspects were found illegally facilitating the release of student driver’s license and distribution of plates at the LTO West Manila District and LTO East Avenue Central Office.

LTO Assistant Secretary Lacanilao said in a statement that two regional chiefs in Metro Manila are under investigations to fully determine the movement of the operations inside the field offices.
“It is also important to determine how they were able to operate and whether there were those who neglected or protected them. That is the purpose of the ongoing investigation and the measures we are implementing within the agency,” Lacanilao said.
He further noted that the reassignment or reshuffle of chief officers is part of the ongoing initiatives of the agency to ensure accountability is upheld against fixers across regional offices. /mr
