Jakarta (ANTARA) - President Prabowo Subianto said that Indonesia and India had reaffirmed their shared commitment to strengthening bilateral relations through elevated cooperation across strategic sectors following high-level engagements in Jakarta.
He made the remarks in a joint statement on his talks with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi at the Merdeka Palace on Monday, describing the bilateral forum as fruitful talks oriented toward boosting the Indonesia-India strategic partnership in pursuit of mutual interests.
“Prime Minister Modi and I have convened a forward-looking, intensive, and prolific meeting covering several strategic issues of mutual concern between the two countries,” Prabowo stated alongside the Indian leader.
On political affairs, he emphasized that Indonesia and India had agreed to intensify state visits and high-level talks, foster closer coordination through bilateral consultation mechanisms, and strengthen institutional cooperation involving think tanks and the newly formed interparliamentary friendship group.
The president added that the two governments had also reiterated their commitment to stronger cooperation against terrorism as part of a broader strategy to maintain regional stability and security.
Regarding security ties, Prabowo announced the agreement to step up cooperation through the third edition of the India-Indonesia Security Dialogue, building on the previous forum held in Jakarta in 2022.
He further highlighted the mutual determination to bolster resilience in the face of emerging challenges related to transnational crimes and security concerns.
