
MANILA, Philippines — President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. presided over the 10th Economy and Development (ED) Council meeting on Tuesday, where several key initiatives in the sectors of transportation, education, energy, disaster resilience, and artificial intelligence (AI) were approved.
The projects that were given greenlight by the council, which is chaired by Marcos, include the proposed variation to the Light Rail Transit Line 1 South Extension Project to allow the interim operations of the Common Station and the Project BEST (Boosting Employability in Strategic Technical and Vocational Education and Training Sectors), the Presidential Communications Office said in a social media post.
Also included are the Philippine Geothermal Resource Derisking Facility and the requested changes to the Philippine Seismic Risk Reduction and Resilience Project to boost the safety and resilience of select public school buildings in Metro Manila.

“The ED Council also confirmed the Philippine Artificial Intelligence Infrastructure Master Plan 2026–2033, which will serve as the country’s long-term roadmap for advancing AI infrastructure, digital connectivity, and innovation to support sustainable economic growth and national competitiveness,” the post read.
On the same day, Marcos also attended the 1st Semester 2026 Armed Forces of the Philippines Command Conference.
During the event, the AFP presented updates on its efforts to strengthen the country’s security, enhance operational readiness, and advance its defense capabilities.
It also underscored the government’s continued commitment to supporting a modern, capable, and mission-ready Armed Forces. /mr
