EXCLUSIVE: Steve Guttenberg (Police Academy), Beth Grant (No Country For Old Men) and Craig Bierko (Cinderella Man) are leading cast in horror The Dybbuk.
The contemporary adaptation of S. Ansky’s play comes from writer-director Lee Amir-Cohen and writer-producer Ashley Bua. Filming has recently wrapped in LA.
Guttenberg leads the cast as Rabbi Azrael, a spiritual leader and mystic forced to perform a dangerous exorcism when the spirit of a dead man possesses a young woman in his congregation. Tony-nominee Bierko plays Sender, the young woman’s father, while Grant plays Frayda, her grandmother.
Amir-Cohen makes his feature directing debut on the project. He previously wrote, directed, produced and starred in the fantasy-horror short The Other Place, produced by Bua and distributed by ShortsTV. His acting credits include The Chosen, For the People and L.A.’s Finest. The Dybbuk will be produced by Amir-Cohen and Bua through their Synescope Studios banner.
Guttenberg is repped by CAA and Vault Entertainment. Grant is repped by Buchwald. Bierko is repped by Echo Lake Entertainment and Frontline Management. Amir-Cohen and Bua are represented by Shaun Gordon at Weintraub Tobin.
