
Jakarta (ANTARA) - Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto saw India's success as a democracy nation capable of maintaining political stability amidst its diversity serves as an important source of inspiration for Indonesia.
"We see India, a country with a population of 1.4 billion people with many ethnic groups like us and many different regional languages. Yet it has managed to maintain peaceful transitions of government transitions across many states; and within the Indian Union itself, this is a remarkable achievement," Prabowo remarks in his address whilst attending the Indian Community Reception held at the Jakarta International Convention Centre (JICC) in Jakarta on Tuesday (7 July).
In an official statement received here on Wednesday, Prabowo said democracy is not an easy system to implement. Nevertheless, he believes democracy remains the best system for realising a just and inclusive nation.
"Democracy is not an easy path, not an easy system. Sometimes, it is very messy; but I think we agree that it is the best system for justice, for hope, and for inclusiveness," he explained.

According to him, democracy is inseparable from various challenges, ranging from threats to attempts by certain parties to weaken the system.
However, Prabowo stressed that such challenges do not diminish the commitment to continue safeguarding and upholding democracy.
"There are dangers in democracy, pitfalls, and obstacles. There are people who want to hijack democracy, but we cannot give up. We must believe in democracy and we must strive to defend democracy," he noted.
Furthermore, he called on all segments of society to continue learning from India's experience in strengthening democracy. Such lessons are important for Indonesia as a country that also embraces diversity.
"What is important is that the Indonesian people must learn from India's experience," Prabowo stated.
