Jack Antonoff and Margaret Qualley Break Up After Nearly 3 Years of Marriage
At least for a time, Margaret Qualley and Jack Antonoff’s relationship had real substance.
Just days after the Bleachers frontman attended Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce’s wedding without his wife of nearly three years—his sister Rachel Antonoff joined him—reports of his and the Substance star’s breakup emerged. But though it has now come to an end, their love story was one marked by fast feelings.
Indeed, months after Qualley, 31, and Antonoff, 42, sparked relationship rumors in the summer of 2021, they confirmed their couple status by sharing a duo of date nights at the AFI Awards Luncheon and Critics Choice Awards in March 2022.
Then, just two months laters, the Once Upon a Time in… Hollywood star—daughter of actress Andie MacDowell and model Paul J. Qualley—debuted an engagement ring at the Cannes Film Festival.
Though Qualley and Antonoff often kept their romance out of the spotlight, they occasionally gave glimpses into the special bond they quickly formed after meeting at a party, during which the Maid actress said, “We just started talking and never stopped.”
“In every other relationship I’ve ever been in, I still felt really lonely because I wasn’t with my person, and it’s like I was seeking something,” she told Cosmopolitan in September 2025. “I don’t feel like that anymore. Jack makes me feel safe and comfortable.”

“I spent so many years trying to be someone’s perfect girl, and that girl changed over and over again,” she continued. “But I can’t lie to Jack. I can’t be that for him—he’d see through it. So I just have to be myself. He’s been the person I’ve pictured my whole life.”
As for Antonoff, he similarly viewed his partnership with Qualley as a source of renewal. In fact, in a rare comment about their marriage, he told i-D magazine in February, "The second I met my partner a cynical part of me died—the very Jewish, analytical, endlessly-weighing-everything part.”
