The governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Yobe State, Alhaji Baba Malam Wali, has appealed to aggrieved aspirants who lost the party’s governorship ticket to close ranks and support the party ahead of the 2027 general elections, as a political support group unveiled a reconciliation and grassroots mobilisation strategy.
Wali made the appeal at the inaugural BMW Mandate Convention organised by the Yobe Strategic Engagement Initiative for Baba Malam Wali, Bola Ahmed Tinubu and All APC Candidates (YSEIB) in Damaturu.
Represented by his running mate, Barrister Saleh Samanja, Wali said the party’s primary election was over and urged members to set aside their differences in the interest of the APC.
“We extend a hand of fellowship to our fellow aspirants who contested alongside our governorship candidate and other nominated candidates of our party in the just concluded primaries. Let us work together for peace, unity and prosperity of our dear state,” he said.
He urged party members to mobilise support for all APC candidates, including President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, ahead of the 2027 elections and called on eligible residents to register with the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and obtain their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs).
The State Coordinator of YSEIB, Barrister Muhammad Saleh Ahmed, said the initiative was established to complement the party’s mobilisation efforts by reconciling aggrieved members, improving voter turnout and expanding grassroots engagement across the state.
Some APC governorship aspirants, including former Director-General of the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), Engr. Mustapha Yunusa Maihaja, and Bashir Machina, had opposed Wali’s emergence as the party’s governorship candidate during the APC primary conducted on May 22, 2026.
