Visitors and residents will be able to enjoy traffic-free walks along Olhão’s waterfront on summer weekends after the municipal council announced that Avenida 5 de Outubro will be closed to vehicles on Friday, Saturday and Sunday evenings until September 15.
The seasonal measure comes into effect on Friday (July 10) with the avenue closed to traffic from 7pm until midnight each weekend.
During those hours, the popular seafront road in the heart of the town will be reserved exclusively for pedestrians, creating more space for people to stroll along the waterfront, enjoy outdoor cafés and restaurants, and experience Olhão’s bustling evening atmosphere.
Drivers are being advised to use the nearby parking areas while the restriction is in place.
