BREAKING! The Special Court of Nepal has acquitted 18, including the then Managing Director, Mrs. Sangita Pahadi, who were accused of the corruption in the billing system. The Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) had lodged a case on Jestha 25 alleging that the officials named above took part in extending the repair and maintenance of the company’s billing system in its network. The verdict gives a clean chit to all 18 in a case that rocked the state-backed telecom giant.
CIAA had registered the case on Jestha 25, 2082, at the Special Court against the 18. The authority claimed a compensation of Rs 33.48 crore (Rs 334.8 million) for their alleged involvement in the ‘corruption’ in the company’s billing system operation. The corruption watchdog alleged that the figures indicted had acted to continue with the old billing system.
The court says that it acquitted as there were no harms or adverse effects seen on the company by the accused. The court found no evidence that the committees or managing heads acted with malicious intent or colluded with AsiaInfo officials.
The accused included the then MD Sangita Pahadi, former Sunil Poudel, CFO Rajendra Shrestha, etc. See the list for names that have been acquitted.
