Podcaster Joe Rogan on Wednesday said President Trump may have “f‑‑‑ed it up” with the Iran war after the U.S. resumed military strikes on Iran, following Tehran’s attacks on ships transiting the Strait of Hormuz.
“We might’ve f‑‑‑ed it up by going to Iran. I mean, this war is not something anybody that’s conservative wanted. Most people don’t want it, except supporters of Israel,” Rogan said on a Wednesday episode of his podcast, “The Joe Rogan Experience.”
“They’re the only people that seem to be thinking it’s a good idea in this country. Most people are horrified by the idea because Trump was elected. One of the pillars that he stood for apparently was that he doesn’t want any more wars,” he added.
Rogan echoes conservative criticism shared by Tucker Carlson, Megyn Kelly and Matt Walsh, among others.
The group has accused Trump of going to war with Iran to satisfy Israeli interests without considering the impact on the American people, who have faced fluctuating gas and energy prices since the start of the war.
“There’s only a reason to go to war if it’s going to benefit you. And it was difficult to see what the benefit was. Although I think Iran is a sort of malevolent state, and it is spreading very bad philosophy,” British politician Rupert Lowe, who served as Rogan’s guest, said on the podcast.
“Obviously, you know you’ve got Hezbollah in Lebanon, and then we’ve got Hamas causing a problem. So, I think …. they are a problem, but certainly from our point of view, I mean, you’re the only country with the ability to do anything about it,” he added.
As Trump’s team attempted to hammer out negotiations, fighting between Hezbollah and Israel in Lebanon threatened to thwart any hopes of a peace agreement.
Israel has maintained its hold in the security zone that serves as a buffer between it and Lebanon, and has refused to retreat, citing a push to crack down on Hezbollah operations in the region.
Iran said peace across the region was secured in the ceasefire agreement and has urged Trump to stick to the terms outlined in the memorandum of understanding.
However, after Iran struck three ships with fire on Tuesday and fighting between the U.S. and Iran continued on Wednesday, the president said the memorandum ceasefire is “over.”
International leaders are awaiting the next moves from the U.S. military to determine if the war in Iran will escalate or cool off after the strikes exchanged.
