A man has lost his hand in a workplace accident while cleaning out a sewer pit in Victoria's south-west this morning.
Air ambulance flew to the scene at the Twelve Apostles Visitors Centre in Princetown about 9am, where it assessed and treated the man.
It said a man in his 20s had been taken to the Alfred Hospital in Melbourne in a serious condition.
WorkSafe staff went to the visitor centre and said it was investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident.
It says the worksite has been shut down due to the distress caused to the injured man's work colleagues.
The Twelve Apostles receive more than 2 million tourists every year.
The precinct is currently undergoing a $126 million redevelopment to help accommodate the number of tourists visiting the site.
