Motorhome travellers visiting the western Algarve have a new place to stay following the opening of a 54-space serviced motorhome area just 750 metres from Praia do Burgau, near Lagos.
The new Área de Serviço para Autocaravanas (ASA) at Quinta Santo Anjo is the first Algarve site operated by European network Camping-Car Park, which manages more than 700 motorhome areas across Europe.
The facility offers the services typically sought by motorhome users, including drinking water, waste disposal, electricity and secure access. Laundry facilities are also available, while Wi-Fi is expected to be introduced soon.
Overnight stays cost €20, with bookings available through the company’s website and mobile app.
“Ideal starting point for discovering best of Algarve”
Rui Monteiro, manager of Camping-Car Park Portugal, said the new site offers an ideal base for exploring the Algarve.
“Quinta Santo Anjo is an ideal starting point for discovering the best of the Algarve. Located in one of the region’s most privileged settings, this motorhome area offers tranquillity, contact with nature and easy access to beaches and the area’s main attractions. Just a few minutes from the picturesque village of Burgau and only 750 metres from Burgau Beach, it is the perfect place for anyone wishing to relax, walk by the sea or simply enjoy one of the Algarve’s most beautiful sunsets.”
The opening comes as motorhome tourism continues to grow in Portugal, particularly in the Algarve, where several municipalities have introduced measures in recent years to tackle illegal overnight parking while expanding the number of designated areas for motorhomes. However, in Lagos, the municipal assembly has demanded an explanation over why the municipal council has not yet introduced motorhome regulations, over six years after commissioning a study.
With the addition of the Burgau site, Camping-Car Park now operates four serviced motorhome areas in Portugal, offering a total of 172 spaces. The company’s other locations are in Pinhel, Penacova and Costa de Lavos.
According to the European Caravan Federation, there are more than 3.2 million motorhomes across Europe, including almost 14,000 registered in Portugal.
