He said that the government-backed company is adding new towers in areas with low coverage while enhancing the coverage capacity of already operating sites.
According to Chaudhary, the company has installed additional equipment at the Ramnagar road junction to address network failure complaints on the East-West Highway.
He added, “We have been expanding capacity in other crowded places as needed.” But he also said that there is a challenge in expanding the network owing to issues with the electricity supply in the areas around Chitwan National Park, leading to Madi.
Network expansion in various areas in Chitwan
In the current fiscal year (FY 2082/83), NT has expanded services in areas including Simaldhap, Tiruwa Danda (Kalika-1), Panyadanda, Chowkidanda, Mohana, Khairhani, and Mangalpur. He informed that new towers have been constructed in some of these places, while solar energy-operated towers have been installed in areas without electricity facilities.
Currently, 132 mobile tower base transceiver stations (BTS) are in operation in Chitwan. Chaudhary said that NT is improving service equality by installing additional equipment as per the population density,
He shared that NTC will set up 10 new mobile towers soon in FY 2083/84, and more towers will be live in other places in the district based on need and demand.
He said that work has also been taken forward to expand alternative energy and backup systems in areas including West Chitwan, Divyanagar, and other areas to solve the problem of mobile services being affected due to the disruption of power supply.
