Leaders of the All Progressives Congress in the North-East have commended President Bola Tinubu for re-nominating Vice President Kashim Shettima as his running mate ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The APC leaders described the President’s decision as a reward for loyalty, competence and inclusiveness.
The commendation was contained in a statement signed on Saturday by the Coordinating Chairman of the North-East APC Youth Critical Stakeholders Forum, Haruna Sardauna.
According to him, Tinubu’s decision has renewed confidence in the administration’s Renewed Hope Agenda and reinforced the North-East’s place in national politics.
The forum described Shettima as “the most loyal, dependable, and result-oriented Vice President in the history of Nigeria,” adding that his performance in office had justified the confidence reposed in him by the President and the ruling party.
The statement read, “Shettima’s re-nomination is not only a personal victory but also a reaffirmation of the strategic importance of the North-East in the national political equation. This is about continuity, stability, and rewarding service.”
Sardauna also recalled that the forum had advocated zoning the vice-presidential ticket to the North-East ahead of the 2023 elections and expressed appreciation to Tinubu for retaining the arrangement.
“We want to sincerely appreciate His Excellency, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, for retaining the vice-presidential slot in the North-East through Vice President Kashim Shettima. This decision speaks to fairness, equity, and political wisdom,” he said.

The group pledged that youths in the region would mobilise support for the APC in the 2027 elections, claiming they account for more than 70 per cent of registered voters in the zone.
“Our youth make up over 70 per cent of the total registered voters in the North-East. As the largest constituency, we will mobilise massively to support the APC and repay this act of trust and inclusion. The North-East will not disappoint, Mr President,” he said.
Sardauna further argued that retaining the vice-presidential slot in the North-East recognised the resilience of communities affected by insurgency and acknowledged the Federal Government’s reconstruction and security efforts in the region.
“The allocation of the vice presidency to the North-East is also a recognition of the resilience of our people. With presidential intervention programmes for the reconstruction of affected areas and durable solutions to strengthen security and economic development, the zone is witnessing renewed hope,” the statement said.
The forum added that the Tinubu administration had given the region “a new sense of belonging” through infrastructure projects, humanitarian interventions and inclusive governance, saying Shettima’s re-nomination would consolidate those gains.
It also urged APC members, traditional rulers and civil society organisations across the North-East to unite behind the Tinubu-Shettima ticket ahead of the 2027 polls.
“This is our time to show gratitude with our votes. We are ready, we are mobilised, and we are committed to delivering victory for the APC in 2027,” the statement added.
