LAPU-LAPU CITY, Cebu — Cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms will continue across Cebu on Sunday, July 12, as the southwest monsoon, locally known as habagat, continues to affect parts of the country.
The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said in its daily weather outlook that monsoon rains may occur over the Visayas and Palawan, including the Kalayaan Islands.
However, Pagasa said the effects of the southwest monsoon may gradually weaken following the exit of Typhoon Inday (international name: Bavi) from the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) and its possible dissipation.

“Dahil inaasahan natin na malulusaw na ito [Bavi] sa susunod na oras o araw ay hihina na rin ang epekto ng southwest monsoon. Kaya inaasahan natin sa mga susunod na araw mababawasan na ‘yong mga malalakas na ulan,” weather specialist Obet Badrina said in the 5 a.m. forecast.
(Since we expect Bavi to dissipate within the next few hours or days, the effects of the southwest monsoon will also gradually weaken, and we expect the heavy rains to lessen in the coming days.)

Conditions in Cebu
Temperatures in Cebu are expected to range from 26 to 32 degrees Celsius on Sunday.
Pagasa also said moderate to strong winds and moderate to rough coastal waters will continue to affect the province throughout the day.
The bureau forecast similar weather and sea conditions over the rest of the Visayas, Palawan, and Occidental Mindoro.
No gale warning has been issued as of Sunday morning.
LPA outside PAR
Meanwhile, Pagasa has begun monitoring a low pressure area (LPA) outside PAR with a low chance of developing into a tropical depression within the next 24 hours.
As of 3 a.m. Sunday, the LPA was spotted 2,205 kilometers east of Eastern Visayas.
Amid these conditions, the bureau urged the public to monitor its latest weather updates and advisories.
