Because of the delay, the mother and her newborn remained aboard the vessel for nearly five hours before medical responders could bring them to a hospital.
On the ship’s arrival at Hilongos Port, personnel from the Hilongos Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office rescue team and the Philippine Coast Guard immediately boarded the vessel to assist in transporting the mother and her baby to the nearest hospital for medical evaluation.
Authorities said both the mother and her baby, her first child, were in stable condition. Coincidentally, the mother and her son share the same birthday, July 10. The mother was born on July 10, 2001.

The incident occurred as rough seas continued to affect the Visayas, delaying several ferry trips and prompting authorities to advise passengers to monitor weather and sailing advisories before traveling.
The baby was nicknamed Roble after the shipping company that operated the passenger vessel on which he was born. /atm
