Madonna, Daughter Lourdes Leon Share Candid Look into Relationship in New Song "The Test"
School is in session.
Madonna has proven once again why she is the Queen of Pop, snagging the top spot on the Billboard 200 for her latest album Confessions II.
With this latest milestone, the “School” singer became the first artist with a No. 1 album in the 2020s to have topped the chart in three other decades. Indeed, the 67-year-old has a total of 10 No. 1 albums from the 1980s, 2000s and 2010s, with 2019’s Madame X being her last album to achieve this feat.
Although Madonna hasn’t addressed this historic achievement, she did share the news to her Instagram Story on July 12, posting graphics celebrating her No. 1 status and celebrating the critical success of her album with purple heart and disco ball emojis.
But she had been open about how important dance music is to her ahead of Confession II’s release on July 3. It should come as no surprise that she returned to the genre, given that the album is the highly anticipated follow-up to 2005’s disco-infused Confessions on a Dance Floor.
“Confessions Il is a love letter to dance music and to all the spaces and communities that create it or enjoy it,” Madonna wrote in a May 27 Instagram post. “The dance floor isn’t about a specific space or building, it’s wherever we gather to dance, celebrate and connect. Thank you for being a part of this moment and for supporting my music.”
And dancing has long been an integral part of the “Like A Virgin” singer’s journey, as she began her creative career as a dancer.

“Dancing’s in my DNA and the first music I made was dance music,” she explained on The Graham Norton Show June 30. “I like the connection I have with people, dancing with people, whether I’m on the stage or the dance floor.”
