His connection to the local community also extended to civic philanthropy; in 1982, he wrote and performed a unique, original one-man show specifically to raise funds for the Darien Library.After his time on Long Neck Point Road, Plummer relocated to the nearby town of Weston, where he resided for nearly 40 years. His family's commitment to the local landscape continued after his passing. In 2025, his widow, Elaine Taylor, donated eight acres of their private Weston estate to the Aspetuck Land Trust.
