Jakarta (ANTARA) - Indonesia's Ministry of Cooperatives has reaffirmed its commitment to reviving and restoring cooperatives as the main pillar of the people's economy, coinciding with the momentum of the 79th National Cooperative Day (Harkopnas).
According to a press release received here on Tuesday, Deputy Minister of Cooperatives Farida Farichah stated the 79th Harkopnas serves as a stepping stone for the government to modernise the cooperative movement, ensuring it becomes highly competitive and brings real benefits to the public.
According to her, this strategic step is part of the government’s efforts to implement Article 33 of the 1945 Constitution, which stipulates that national economy shall be organised as a common endeavor based on family spirit.
"This value is the very soul of cooperatives, which is growing together, strengthening one another, and bringing equitable prosperity to all members of society," Farichah said.

She added the theme of the 79th Harkopnas is "Empowered Cooperatives, Victorious Indonesia". It reflects the spirit of mutual cooperation or gotong royong to strengthen cooperatives as the foundation of national economic resilience.
The government had previously emphasised that strengthening cooperatives would be carried out, among other things, through the Red and White Village Cooperatives (KDKMP), which are expected to serve as instruments for reinforcing the village economy.
During the peak event of National Cooperative Day on July 12, President Prabowo Subianto stated th the KDKMP is projected to become the hub of the village economy, as well as the primary distributor of government subsidies to people in need.
Based on data from the KDKMP Formation Acceleration Management Information System (Simpkopdes) as of July 14, 2026, a total of 83,382 cooperatives have been established, though not all of them currently have physical buildings.
Of that number, there are 38,054 land proposals for the physical construction of cooperatives, with 35,867 of them verified. Meanwhile, 19,296 cooperatives are currently under construction, while 16,091 others have been fully completed.
