Based on Homer's classic poem, The Odyssey follows the arduous 10-year journey of the Greek king Odysseus (Damon) as he returns home to his wife Penelope (Hathaway) and son Telemachus (Holland), in Ithaca following the Trojan War.
And family isn't just at the heart of the epic adventure. It was also a major part of director Christopher Nolan's creative process as the Oscar winner's kids Flora, Oliver, Rory and Magnus with his wife and longtime producing partner Emma Thomas all worked as crewmembers on the film.
"They had a lot of fun," Nolan recently told E! News, adding all four "weren't doing the glamorous jobs" on set. "It was great to have them along."

And the Inception director wasn't lying about the more mundane parts.
"I'd sort of look behind a boat at sea," Nolan recalled of filming in Europe, "see a guy in a wetsuit maneuvering the boat and realize it was one of my sons."
And while the 55-year-old's kids have previously made cameos in Inception, Interstellar and Oppenheimer, working together on this project was especially meaningful.
As Nolan put it, "The Odyssey is a family story. And so—when you're engaging with it creatively, emotionally—you do think a lot about your own life and your own relationships."
Don't miss E!'s The Odyssey premiere livestream July 14, at 6 p.m. ET/3 p.m. PT.
