Jakarta (ANTARA) - Indonesia's Ministry of Population and Family Development is prioritizing family planning services for households in the lowest four income deciles to reduce unmet contraceptive needs and support efforts to lower stunting.
Population and Family Development Minister Wihaji said the priority targets families ranging from the extremely poor to those vulnerable to poverty, who require greater government support.
Speaking at a meeting with the House of Representatives' Commission IX on Wednesday, Wihaji said the number of users of long-term contraceptive methods continues to increase.
He said expanding long-term contraception is part of efforts to strengthen sustainable, high-quality family planning services.
To accelerate stunting reduction, Wihaji stressed the need for stronger collaboration across sectors.
He said coordination among Family Facilitation Teams, integrated health posts, community health centers and village administrations is essential to providing comprehensive and sustainable family support.
Wihaji said Indonesia's family development and demographic indicators continued to improve, based on the 2025 Family Census.

The ministry met several strategic targets, including the Total Fertility Rate, Population-Oriented Development Index, Family Quality Development Index, Family Development Index and Demographic Issue Awareness Index.
He said the achievements reflected stronger government efforts to build high-quality families as the foundation of Indonesia's human capital.
The ministry also reported a 2025 budget realization rate of 98.71 percent, with financial statements prepared under Government Accounting Standards.
The Supreme Audit Agency (BPK) again awarded the ministry an unqualified audit opinion for its financial reporting.
Wednesday's parliamentary meeting also reviewed the ministry's priority programs, including stunting reduction and population control initiatives.
