Homicide detectives are assisting police investigating the suspicious deaths of two women in central Queensland.
A woman's body was found in a ground-floor residence on Denham Street in Rockhampton's CBD just after 1pm yesterday, after a relative requested a welfare check.
Police say the 32-year-old was found dead, with a head injury.
"We're certainly treating it as suspicious at this stage," Detective Superintendent Darrin Shadlow said.
"Because of the appearance of a head injury with this lady and because she has been dead for possibly over a day."
Police say the woman had recently moved to the area from interstate.
Officers have questioned her 32-year-old partner, who also lived at the address.
The pair was known to police.
The homicide squad has been called in from Brisbane to help with the investigation.
No charges have been laid and the cause of death is unknown.
Police say no weapon has been identified.
It is the second suspicious death in central Queensland this week, with police investigating a separate incident in Blackwater, about 200 kilometres west of Rockhampton.
A 66-year-old woman was found unresponsive at a home on Oliffe Street on Sunday evening and declared dead at the scene.
Police said no-one had been charged in relation to either death and all avenues, including possible domestic violence, were part of the investigation.
Anyone with information about either incident is being urged to come forward.
