19-year-old student stabbed dead in Tuguegarao City

TUGUEGARAO CITY – A 19-year-old university student was stabbed dead by a 23-year-old man during a drinking spree inside a house in Atulayan Norte at dawn on Wednesday, police said.

Zanter Troy Dela Cruz Soriano was repeatedly stabbed, allegedly by Vincent Danga of Iguig, Cagayan.

Described as a student leader and member of the Boys of M3 Cagayan Valley Zone skating team, Soriano was at a gathering with friends in the house of Atulayan Norte resident Ricky Soriano when a heated argument erupted involving Danga that culminated in a brawl where the latter allegedly stabbed the student.

Danga fled on a motorcycle, but he was arrested hours later at Iguig town in Cagayan. The knife allegedly used in the brawl was also seized.

Soriano was immediately brought to San Raphael Hospital for emergency treatment. He was declared dead at around 2:35 AM on July 15, 2026, by his attending physician, Dr. Paul Tegga.

The police are preparing charges against Danga for Soriano’s death./coa
