
LUCENA CITY — The municipality of Infanta, Quezon recorded a dangerously high temperature on Thursday (July 16), with its heat index reaching 49 degrees Celsius as of 2 p.m.
According to the weather bureau, heat index values ranging from 42°C to 51°C fall under the “Danger” category, where prolonged exposure may lead to heat cramps, heat exhaustion, and heat stroke.

Residents of the coastal town, which faces the Pacific Ocean, were advised to drink plenty of water even when not thirsty, wear light and comfortable clothing, and avoid prolonged exposure to direct sunlight, particularly between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m.
The local government also encouraged the use of umbrellas, hats, or other protective gear and advised residents to avoid strenuous outdoor activities during peak heat hours. /mcm
