As Power Book III: Raising Kanan is getting ready to wrap its five-season story this summer, Starz is treating fans to a taste of what's to come for its next prequel spinoff in the Power franchise, Power: Origins. A new teaser trailer and first-look photos dropped on Thursday, showing the dynamic duo of James "Ghost" St. Patrick and Tommy Egan as teens looking to make their mark in the streets of New York City.
Young Ghost is played by Spence Moore, with Charlie Mann as Tommy and MeKai Curtis reprising his role as Kanan Stark. In the original Power series, which ran for six seasons from 2014 to 2020, Omari Hardwick originated the role of Ghost, and Joseph Sikora played his partner-turned-frenemy, Tommy, with Curtis "50 Cent" Jackson as the infamous killer, Kanan.
The new prequel, currently in production, will explore the fan-favorite characters in their younger years as friends who got into the drug business under Kanan's tutelage. Other cast members joining the series include Hill Harper, Nadia Dajani (reprising her role as Teresa Boselli), Kelly McCreary, Damon Gupton and Tonya Pinkins (playing Ghost's grandmother). Jason Dirden is back as Traymont Stinson, a character in Raising Kanan, and Jennifer Ferrin will star as Tommy's mom, Kate Egan.
Co-created by Sascha Penn and Power creator Courtney Kemp, Power: Origins will be the fourth spinoff in the entire franchise. All series, including Power, Power Book II: Ghost, Power Book III: Raising Kanan and Power Book IV: Force, can be streamed on Starz.
