As Yorgen Fenech’s trial by jury entered its 16th day, Daphne Caruana Galizia’s sister, Mandy Mallia, continued her daily series of tributes with a poignant reflection on the journalist’s lasting legacy.
Sharing a family photo taken in July 2001, Mallia recalled Daphne looking lovingly at her niece Megan on her first birthday. She wrote that Daphne, who adored children, never had the chance to meet her own grandchildren because they were born after her murder.
“The bomb did not just kill Daphne; it also robbed her grandchildren of a grandmother they would have loved,” Mallia wrote.
She also renewed her call for justice, writing that Daphne “deserves no less” and that justice “can’t come soon enough” because it is “already long overdue.”
Mallia has shared a personal tribute every day since the trial began, offering memories of her sister alongside calls for justice as court proceedings continue.
Yorgen Fenech is charged with criminal association and complicity in the assassination of Daphne Caruana Galizia. He has pleaded not guilty.
