Man ‘disappears in Guadiana River’, near Mértola

Brazilian was swimming, called for help, and disappeared

Authorities have been searching this afternoon for a 37-year-old man who got into difficulties while swimming in the Guadiana river, near Mértola.

According to reports, the man, a Brazilian, ‘called for help’ and then disappeared under the water.

Maritime Police, GNR agents and firefighters have all mobilised, some using jet skis, others in boats, but at time of writing there had still been no developments.
