Earlier, the municipality, situated along the Pacific coast in northern Quezon, recorded an even higher heat index of 49°C on June 3.
According to Pagasa, heat index values ranging from 42°C to 51°C fall under the “danger” category, with prolonged exposure increasing the risk of heat cramps, heat exhaustion, and heat stroke.
The heat index refers to the temperature perceived by the human body when air temperature is combined with humidity.
Pagasa said the southwest monsoon or “habagat” has slightly weakened, although thunderstorms are still expected across the country on Wednesday.
Metro Manila and the rest of Luzon are likewise expected to experience isolated rain showers or thunderstorms, particularly from afternoon to evening./coa
