
BAYOMBONG, Nueva Vizcaya—A 17-year-old boy was arrested on Monday in connection with the rape and murder of his 14-year-old cousin in Kasibu, Nueva Vizcaya.
The victim’s body was discovered on June 13 inside a comfort room at the Information Center tourism building in Barangay Capisaan.
Police Capt. Lloyd Guillermo, the Kasibu police chief, said investigators identified the suspect following a series of interviews with witnesses and the victim’s relatives.

According to police, the two had attended a wedding reception on June 12 and were later seen together at the tourism building on June 13.
The victim had been reported missing by her family on the morning of June 13.
The suspect allegedly prevented the victim’s sister from entering a locked audio-visual room at the tourism site while searching for the girl. The victim’s body was eventually discovered by villagers later that afternoon.
Authorities confirmed that the suspect admitted to the crime, stating he acted out of fear that the victim would report their sexual encounter.

A medical examination by the local health office matched forensic evidence found at the crime scene to the suspect.
The teenager, who has no prior criminal record, has been turned over to the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) as a child in conflict with the law./coa
