MANILA, Philippines — A sex offender from the US was intercepted at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (Naia) and blocked from entering the country, the Bureau of Immigration (BI) said Tuesday.
The BI identified the US national as 48-year-old Cabbot Allen Sanders, who arrived at Naia Terminal 1 on May 28 aboard a flight from Seoul, South Korea.

Based on these records, Sanders was convicted in 1998 for communicating with a minor for immoral purposes.
The BI then immediately excluded and booked Sanders the next available flight out of the country for being an undesirable foreign national under the Philippine Immigration Act of 1940.
This move, said BI Commissioner Joel Anthony Viado, forms part of the bureau’s intensified campaign against foreign sexual predators.
“The Philippines will never become a safe haven for foreign sexual predators,” said Viado in a statement.

“Under our #ShieldKids campaign, we remain relentless in protecting Filipino children from individuals who pose a threat to their safety and welfare. Foreign nationals with records involving crimes against minors have no place in our communities,” he added.
He then maintained that the BI continues to coordinate with local and international law enforcement agencies to strengthen border monitoring and prevent the entry of foreign fugitives and sex offenders into the country. /jpv
