Jazz will once again provide the soundtrack to summer evenings in Sagres as the Beliche Jazz concert series returns to the historic Forte do Beliche throughout July.
Organised by Vila do Bispo municipal council in partnership with the Algarve Jazz Orchestra, the programme will see four concerts take place on consecutive Saturdays at 5pm, combining live music with one of the Algarve’s most dramatic coastal settings.
Perched on the cliffs west of Sagres, the fort will host a range of jazz performers and ensembles throughout the month, offering audiences the chance to enjoy music against the backdrop of the Atlantic Ocean.
The series opens on July 4 with PanDuo, featuring Ricardo Jesus on alto saxophone and Hugo Santos on double bass.
A week later, on July 11, vocalist Cátia Ribeiro will take to the stage alongside guitarist Diogo Costa and double bassist Duarte Júlio.
The July 18 concert will feature a quartet led by Sofia Rodrigues, joined by Mateus Saldanha on guitar, Thiago Alves on double bass and Nemaja Delic on drums.
The programme concludes on July 25 with a performance by the Algarve Jazz Orchestra, which will be joined by special guests Raul Reyes and Osvaldo Pegudo.
According to the municipality, Beliche Jazz aims to strengthen the area’s cultural offering during the summer months while showcasing the heritage and landscape of Sagres through music.
Tickets go on sale on Wednesday, June 17 and can be purchased online through Ticketline or in person at the Vila do Bispo municipal council treasury services on weekdays between 9am and 3pm.
