What Bunnie Xo Said About Having Kids With Jelly Roll Before Breakup
Jelly Roll was soft launching his new chapter before news of his breakup with Bunnie XO emerged.
Prior to the country singer’s May 18 divorce filing becoming public June 15, he took the stage without his wedding band at the CMA Fest nearly two weeks ago.
During Jelly Roll’s June 4 performance at Nissan Stadium during the first day of the country music festival in Nashville, Tenn., his left ring finger was noticeably bare. The 41-year-old wore a simple black outfit paired with an open denim button up and a blue baseball hat, which he wore backward.
While Jelly Roll (real name Jason DeFord) did not always sport his wedding ring—a simple black band—during his nearly 10-year marriage to Bunnie (real name Alisa DeFord), he made a routine habit of foregoing the piece of jewelry altogether during his public appearances in the last few months.
And when the “Wild Ones” singer did step out sporting the piece, he opted to wear it on his index finger rather than his ring finger. In a post Jelly Roll shared on Instagram following his CMA performance June 4, he was sporting his ring on his left hand, albeit on a different finger.
Jelly Roll and Bunnie’s divorce may come as a surprise as just months earlier, the Dumb Blonde podcaster detailed the couple’s hopes to welcome twins via surrogate in her memoir Stripped Down: Unfiltered and Unapologetic.
“Now that we’re finally stable financially and somewhat emotionally after all the healing we’ve done over this decade together, we’re talking about the future—including growing our family,” the 46-year-old wrote in her book, released in February. “J and I have a surrogate, the sweetest woman ever, and soon I’ll be starting my IVF stims.”

And just a month after the release of his now-estranged wife’s memoir, Jelly Roll—dad to Bailee, 17, and Noah, 9, from past relationships—expressed pride in her accomplishment in honor of International Women’s Day.
“To my beautiful, intelligent, compassionate, graceful wife, and newly New York Times best selling author, I’ll never be able to thank you enough for making me complete,” Jelly Roll wrote in a March 8 Instagram post. “You truly saved my life.”
He added, “They say behind every good man is a great woman, and I know thats damn true for me y’all.”
