
MANILA, Philippines — The Metro Rail Transit Line 3 (MRT-3) announced free train rides beginning Wednesday at noon after a technical issue temporarily disrupted operations at several stations.
In a social media post, MRT-3 apologized to commuters affected by the provisional service that was implemented from 5:50 a.m. to around 7 a.m.

“In accordance with the directive of DOTr Secretary Banoy Lopez, there will be free rides for the entire day on the entire MRT-3 line starting at 12:00 noon this Wednesday, June 17, 2026,” it also said.

MRT-3 added that all necessary measures are being taken to prevent similar incidents and further improve the quality of its service. /apl
