Police say a body has been found on the shore of Lake Tekapo.
It's the second time a person's body has been found in or near the lake in the last week, however, the two incidents are not connected, police say.
Sergeant Warwick Worth said a man's body was seen in shallow water on the western shore of the lake on Wednesday morning.
He says enquiries into the circumstances of the death were continuing, but it was not being treated as suspicious.
The man is not believed to have family in New Zealand.
Police have made contact with the relevant consulate so that next of kin can be notified overseas.
They say the incident is not related to an event on 12 June when the body of another person was found in the lake.
The man's death has been referred to the Coroner.
