Following the success of its first edition last year, the cultural celebration returned bigger and better, bringing together guests, local officials, hospitality partners, and artists from across Bohol for an evening dedicated to heritage, music, food, and world-class Boholano talent.
The event was formally opened by the property’s General Manager, Mr. Doer R. Escoto, who welcomed guests and described the celebration as a way of honoring the country’s freedom, identity, and love for country.
“Tonight is our way of coming together in one spirit, as guests, partners, friends, and fellow Filipinos, to honor a very important moment in our nation’s history,” Escoto said in his opening remarks. He shared that Sining at Kultura 2.0 reflects the kind of destination Bohol continues to become: a place where visitors can experience culture, artistry, music, food, and genuine hospitality in one destination.
“For us, Sining at Kultura 2.0 says that Bohol is a destination that offers more than attractions. It offers a full guest experience,” Escoto said. “It reflects that Bohol is a complete package, where visitors can enjoy culture, artistry, music, food, and genuine hospitality in one destination.”
The evening also highlighted the resort’s commitment to supporting local artists by giving them a platform to share their craft with guests and visitors.
According to Escoto, spotlighting Boholano artists is part of the resort’s continued effort to preserve cultural heritage while empowering local talent.
“As part of Management’s practice, we continue to support Boholanos by giving them a platform to showcase their artistry, especially during meaningful occasions such as the 128th Independence Day Special,” he said. “Boholanos are exceptionally talented and are known to perform at an international level.”
Also present during the celebration were Joanne M. Pinat, Officer-in-Charge of the Bohol Provincial Tourism Office, and Panglao Municipal Mayor Edgardo “Boy” Arcay. In her message, Pinat congratulated Best Western Plus The Ivywall Resort-Panglao for leading an initiative that brings culture closer to guests, families, and visitors.
“This meaningful celebration reminds us that culture is not only preserved in our museums, photos, books, galleries, and heritage sites, but also in spaces like this, where people gather, connect, and create memories,” Pinat said.
She added that the event demonstrates how the hospitality industry can become a true partner in keeping heritage alive. Before the performances, guests enjoyed an all-Filipino cuisine buffet that showcased familiar flavors and local favorites. The dining experience set the tone for the evening, creating a warm and festive atmosphere that honored Filipino identity through both food and fellowship.
For Raicielle Bernice C. Domingo, Sales Manager of the property, the celebration was born from the resort’s desire to mark Independence Day in a way that felt meaningful and rooted in Filipino pride.
“We first launched Sining at Kultura last year as our way of celebrating Philippine Independence Day and expressing our patriotism as Filipinos,” Domingo said. “The positive response encouraged us to continue it, and our goal is to make it an annual tradition.”
Domingo said the event aims to strengthen unity and remind guests of the importance of preserving and embracing Filipino identity.
The highlight of the night was the showcase of live performances by artists proudly from Bohol. The evening featured Jam 403, Music & Me, Koro Seraphim, Alexa Lim, Catherine Cueva, Safhia Legaspi, and Ugmad Bol-anon Cultural Troupe, who brought music, vocals, movement, and cultural expression to the stage.
From patriotic and traditional songs to powerful musical numbers and cultural performances, the artists filled the evening with heartfelt expressions of Filipino identity. Their performances reflected the talent, passion, and creative spirit of the Boholano community.
“We hope our guests leave with a deeper appreciation for Filipino culture, talent, and heritage,” Domingo said. “Through the performances of local Boholano artists and the showcase of local cuisine, we want them to experience the richness of our culture in a meaningful and enjoyable way.”
She added that Sining at Kultura 2.0 was designed as an immersive experience where guests could enjoy great food while being entertained by inspiring performances in a concert-like setting.
More than a night of entertainment, the celebration became a showcase of Bohol as a complete destination. It presented the province as a place where visitors can experience natural beauty, warm hospitality, local cuisine, cultural pride, and world-class artistry in one memorable setting.
As the evening concluded, guests left with a renewed sense of Filipino pride and appreciation for Boholano talent. The celebration served as a reminder that Independence Day is a commemoration of history and a living expression of identity, unity, and love for country.
With the success of this year’s staging, Sining at Kultura 2.0 further established itself as one of Best Western Plus The Ivywall Resort-Panglao’s signature cultural celebrations, bringing together hospitality, heritage, and local artistry in honor of the Filipino spirit.
