Meanwhile, Malta’s women’s team remained in contention for top spot in its Billie Jean King Cup group. The Billie Jean King Cup serves as the women’s equivalent of the Davis Cup, with nations competing across a multi-tiered international format.

The results continue a positive week for Maltese tennis, which also saw Francesca Curmi claim the W75 Blois title in France, one of the most significant victories of her professional career.

With both national teams performing strongly and Curmi adding another major trophy to her collection, Maltese tennis is enjoying one of its most successful periods in recent years.
