Malta’s Men’s National Tennis Team has secured promotion to Davis Cup Europe Group III after an unbeaten week of competition.
The team finished top of its group after winning every tie, earning promotion within the Davis Cup structure, the premier international team competition in men’s tennis.
The Malta Tennis & Padel Federation hailed the achievement as a dominant campaign, with Alex Degabriele, Liam Delicata, Matthew Asciak and Evan Galea all contributing to the successful run.
The team was led by captain and national coach Alberto Gil Deocal.
Promotion to Europe Group III marks an important step forward for Maltese tennis and continues what has been a hugely successful period for the sport, following Francesca Curmi’s W75 title victory in France.
The result sees Malta move up the Davis Cup ladder and compete at a higher level in future editions of the competition.
