MANILA, Philippines — Super Typhoon Bavi is forecast to enter the Philippine area of responsibility (PAR) either Tuesday evening or early Wednesday morning, the state weather bureau said Monday.
In its morning forecast, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said Bavi, last located 2,355 kilometers east of Southeastern Luzon, is moving west-northwest toward PAR at 15 kilometers per hour (kph).
“If the cyclone’s movement and direction do not change, it is expected to enter our PAR tomorrow night or early Wednesday morning,” Pagasa weather specialist Aldczar Aurelio said.

Should the super typhoon enter PAR, it will be given the local name Inday and become the country’s ninth tropical cyclone this year.
Aurelio said the typhoon has a low chance of making landfall in the country. Instead, its center may pass near the Batanes area before making landfall in Taiwan.
The super typhoon currently has maximum sustained winds of 215 kph and gusts of up to 265 kph.
It still has no direct effect on any part of the country, Aurelio said.
