
MANILA, Philippines — The southwest monsoon, or “habagat,” will bring rains in Luzon and Visayas on Sunday evening, the state weather bureau said.
In its 4 p.m. weather forecast, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) warned of scattered rains and thunderstorms in the following areas:
Metro Manila
Ilocos Region
Cordillera Administrative Region
Western Visayas
Zambales
Bataan
Tarlac
Pampanga
Bulacan
Cavite
Laguna
Batangas
Rizal
Occidental Mindoro
Oriental Mindoro
Romblon
Palawan
Isolated rain showers or thunderstorms are also expected over the rest of Luzon and Visayas.

Meanwhile, Mindanao may also experience the same weather due to localized thunderstorms.
According to Pagasa, the downpours across over the country may bring flash floods or landslides.
Pagasa is also monitoring a low-pressure area (LPA) outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility, 1,800 kilometers east of eastern Visayas.
The bureau said the LPA has a “low chance to develop into a Tropical Depression within the next 24 hours.” /apl
