Three people were rescued this afternoon after becoming stranded near Ta’ Marija Cave in Ġnejna following a trekking expedition.
The Civil Protection Department said it was alerted to the situation and immediately launched a coordinated rescue operation together with the Armed Forces of Malta.
Rescue teams from Fire Stations 3, 5, 7 and 8 were deployed to the area, where they successfully located the three individuals and brought them safely back to land.
The Civil Protection Department thanked all responding entities for their coordination, professionalism and assistance throughout the operation.
No injuries were reported.
The incident highlights the challenges that can arise in Malta’s more remote coastal areas, where difficult terrain and limited access can complicate rescue efforts.
Authorities have not released further details about the circumstances that led to the individuals becoming stranded.
