EXCLUSIVE: The eighth DaVinci International Film Festival (DIFF) will present Braveheart writer Randall Wallace with its Visionary Award at the event’s opening night on September 25, 2026, at the AMC Theaters at The Grove.
Wallace becomes the second person to receive the award after Michael J. Fox took it home in 2024. The award “honors exceptional creative architects of cinema whose enduring bodies of work inspire and transform global audiences.”
The opening night will include a red carpet, a live traditional bagpipe processional, and then a screening of Braveheart followed by a Q&A and keynote with Wallace.
Wallace was Oscar-nominated for his script for Mel Gibson epic, Braveheart. He has also directed movies including The Man In The Iron Mask, starring Leonardo DiCaprio, and Secretariat. He re-teamed with Gibson on 2002 American war film We Were Soldiers and has more recently co-written the scripts for Gibson’s upcoming The Resurrection Of The Christ films.
“Randall Wallace is a true architect of cinema, whose work serves as a powerful inspiration for the film community,” said Chadwick Pelletier, Founder and Executive Director of DIFF, which runs for two days. “His epic storytelling has truly stood the test of time, forever defining the art of cinema. It is a profound privilege for DIFF to honor his extraordinary legacy as we kick off our eighth edition.”
“We launch our visions into the dark, hoping they find a home in the hearts of others. To be recognized with DaVinci’s Visionary Award is a beautiful affirmation of that chase,” commented Wallace.
